Information for Parents Every parent of a Scout in Troop 654 is invited to participate fully in the operation and maintenance of the organization. In fact, we can't do it without you. The Tenderfoot Scout of today is the Senior Patrol Leader of tomorrow, and today's new parent may one day be Scoutmaster. There are many ways to get involved: Sign up to drive and/or camp with the troop on an outing. Newcomers are always welcome around the campfire. Attend Parent Committee meetings. Since every parent has an equal stake in the future of the troop, every parent has an equal voice. Your opinion is welcome. Double-check the calendar, but committee meetings are generally held every month at 7:30 pm. Attend training sessions for Scouters. The District has an active training program covering Adult Leader Fundamentals, Youth Protection, Advanced Scoutmaster training and many High Adventure certifications. Ask any adult leader or committee officer. Become an Assistant Scoutmaster or Committee member Read the newsletter, attend meetings, watch the website, talk to other parents, stay involved with your son's Scouting experience. Involved parents encourage involved Scouts. Whatever your volunteer role, your troop needs you to keep operating as a quality unit which makes our troop worthy of the fine Scouts it serves. Good parental support consists of all of the following:
