About us
Preparing Youth for Life.
Founded in 1951, Troop 654 is one of the oldest troops in the Colonial District of the National Capital Area Council. To date, over 180 Troop 654 Scouts have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. We are chartered by Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, in Alexandria, Virginia.

Build Individual Scouting Skills
In the outdoors, youth have opportunities to acquire skills that make them more self-reliant through exploration and completing challenges they first thought were beyond their ability.

Learn and Practice Values
Scouting programs instill in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law, then they are challenged to incorporate those aspects into everyday life.

Develop Followership & Leadership Skills
Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives.
what sets us apart
Troop 654 is a Youth Run Troop. While the Scoutmaster and Adult Leaders are ultimately responsible, the Scouts handle the week-to-week leadership of the Troop themselves.
LET’S GO
Share in our Outdoor Adventure.
Experience has shown that Scouts who actively participate in the outdoor program generally advance more quickly, and are more likely to remain in Scouting.

Track Your Progress
Scouters can submit their ranks, merit badges and awards through BSA’s official Scoutbook app. Scoutbook is convenient and accurate because Scouts manage their own information. After your information is entered, Troop leaders can approve all of your earned items and it will automatically update directly into the BSA’s official youth member record.

Try Something New
Scouting provides youth with an opportunity to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, and reinforce ethical standards. These opportunities not only help them when they are young but also carry forward into their adult lives, improving their relationships, their work lives, their family lives, and the values by which they live.
